It's sad to realize that the economy is shaky at best and it's said that the world is not out of the rut just yet. That reality might prompt you to look for additional sources of income.
Well you are in luck as I'm going to show you exactly how to do that while keeping your day job. Here are the steps.
1) Set aside time
I'm assuming you have an 8-5, but if not, you know your schedule the most so adjust accordingly. You need to set aside around 1 hour each day in your schedule to focus entirely on building your business.
2) Set aside some money
You can do everything yourself, that is, if you have the time. And since the assumption here is you are keeping your day job (at least until such a point where you already earn a lot in internet marketing, then you can quit your job), outsourcing is the only option to get work done.
Don't worry though, outsourcing has become cheaper and cheaper along the years. Short articles now cost $2-4 a piece, complete custom websites below $100 (if you use WordPress then you don't have to outsource web design), hosting at $4 a month, etc. Web services are more and more affordable.
Expect that you would be outsourcing a lot of content to gain traffic and achieve SEO (covered next step).
3) Learn SEO
SEO really is the set-it and forget it holy grail of the internet marketing world. Learn how to do it for your website. There are lots and lots of resources out there. I even have one of the best downloadable from my website.
4) Monetize
After you have a website up plus traffic coming in from the content you outsourced and Google due to SEO, it's time to monetize your website. Of course initially you are spending (due to outsourcing) more than what you are earning. Eventually though as you get more and more content out and traffic begins to grow, your earnings would outgrow your expenses, to a point that you are earning enough to even quit your job.
There you have it, how to do internet marketing while you are working on your day job.
