If you want to make money on the internet, then the best way to do it is by affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is basically just sales on the internet. But there is a twist: people get online to "convenience shop" and they pretty much have their credit card in hand and are ready to buy. But they are looking for something in particular so they go to a search engine and type in what affiliate marketers call a keyword. This keyword can be anything, like "where to buy nerd t-shirts". Now this person is in the market for a nerdy t-shirt and is just looking to find one that will fit whoever they are buying for. You as an affiliate marketer want to capitalize on this by being the result they see when they type their keyword into the search engine. Sounds easy, right? Read on.

Search engines are crafty and rightfully so. When you are looking for something on the internet like car stereos, you don't want to be deluged by a bunch of garbage that has absolutely nothing to do with car stereos do you? Well, neither does anyone else, so search engines do a lot of weeding out of sites that aren't related to you. Now, think about this. I don't want to get to far out there, but I am sure at some point in the past you have typed something into a search engine like car stereos and ended up with results related to porn sites. NOT what you were after, right? Well, the way that happened is that whoever made that porn site optimized their site in such a way that when you typed in car stereos, the porn site came up as a result. Search engines are onto these games these days, and they try really hard to make it so that doesn't happen.

Now, I tell you that to tell you this...it isn't just a piece of cake to target a keyword like "where to buy nerd t-shirts" and all of a sudden your site magically pop up as the result just because you tweaked a little here or there to make that keyword shine. If it was that easy, there would be tons of unrelated material show up just to get someone to see it.
